  • 1992-2005: Participation in a research project on early modern police legislation
  • 1994-1996: Courses at the University of Frankfurt and at the College for Administration Wiesbaden
  • SS/1997: Visiting professor at the University of Tartu
  • 2001: Habilitation at the University of Frankfurt; thesis: "'Gute Policey'. Ordnungsleitbilder und Zielvorstellungen politischen Handelns in der Frühen Neuzeit". Venia legendi for civil law, medieval and modern history of law, constitutional history
  • 2002: Interim professor at the University of Cologne
  • 2003: Interim professor at the University of Erlangen
